Don't be afraid to ask...

June 4, 2009

One of the best things a teacher, who is new at anything, can do is to find a mentor – someone to use as a sounding board, someone with more experience in a given area (in this case, technology and project based learning). I have been fortunate enough to have the ear of a technology consultant who made the mistake of saying, feel free to e-mail me anytime. I’m not sure he expected to be bothered so often. Here is some of his advice:

1) Problems with teachertube... How about trying something like podbean.com

2) LULU and images. Move away from word... Go to: http://www.openoffice.org because with this you can put the images in, move them more easily, and export to a pdf! And it is open source, so the kids can download it att home for free and be legal. It just keeps getting better and better... On the mac side, I use neooffice In fact, I just published a second book at LULU - http://stores.lulu.com/jimmoulton

I am so glad that the kids from Brasil celebrated your kids' graduation! Yahoo! Congratulations to them, and to you for never giving up. Your enthusiasm infects kids. In such a good way.

Cheers, and I look forward to reading what you write!

Jim
